The Avengers’ sequel announced
The sequel of the box office smashing movie, The Avengers, has been announced few days ago. Joss Whedon’s epic, which broke several records at the Box Office. The original bagged $270 million at the Box Office in just one week of its released in United States.
The Chairman and Chief Executive of Walt Disney Co., Robert A. Iger announced the sequel of this super hero film on 9th May.
Talking about the popularity of this flick, Iger said: “It’s a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much – great characters, great storytelling and a wonderful ability for them to bring their characters and stories to the big screen so effectively.”
The epic super hero adventure, The Avengers, featured an ensemble cast of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson. All of the star cast is expected to return for
the sequel and some new crew will join them.
The original follows Nick Fury (played by Jackson) of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency, who brings together a tandem of super humans including the likes of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye to
form the Avengers. Their mission is to protect the Earth from Loki (starred by Hiddleston) and his army.
Almost all of the top film critics gave the $220 million blockbuster, The Avengers, positive reviews and great ratings. It received 93 per cent Certified Fresh rating at the review aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes. The site’s general consensus states, “With
a script that never forgets its heroes’ humanity and no shortage of superpowered set pieces, The Avengers lives up to its hype — and raises the bar for Marvel at the movies.”
Ann Hornaday of the Washington Post gave it a score of three out of four and stated, “The performances are so well-pitched in The Avengers, meshing with such vividness and ease, that it’s tempting to overpraise the good but not great movie that surrounds
them.”
