How Imran Khan will make his promises?

Friday, May 18th, 2012 4:19:10 by

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan promised to end corruption in 90 days but without revealing how this miracle will be happened.

Some people believe the cricketer-turned-politician can deliver his promise while others are doubtful of both his sincerity and ability.

Certainly, he would only be a super smart if he will end corruption in a country of 180 million. Imran himself has not account of corruption or broken promises because he hasn’t history of holding a public office.

But the worrisome factor is that Imran Khan is yet to announce a policy that how he would end corruption within a short span of time.

His charisma, cricket fame, and the use of social media are at work but we haven’t experienced the example of elimination of corruption in a 90-day period before.

As a slogan, corruption has always been used by almost every Pakistani government to undermine political rivals. As early as the 1950s, laws to disqualify politicians were enacted.

Ending corruption is not an easy task and it will only result in high-powered accountability operations fixed in a dysfunctional legal system.

It is a job to long-term process involving reformation of institutions, formal and informal laws and making changes in social values.

Before vying a chance to put the country on a right track, the foremost test of Imran Khan is the prompt and efficient management of his party.

In fact, it’s time for Imran Khan to bring down on rhetoric and beef up on specifics. He is required to come across as someone who knows what he is speaking about.

It is not even clear how much electoral support the PTI will get in the upcoming elections. I personally don’t want Imran Khan to be unsuccessful. His failure and the absence of popular alternatives may make the future of democracy even gloomier.

The captain should realize that this is not the managing of a hospital or a game of sport. A promising Islamic welfare state is a cruel joke without restructuring of a national security state.

Shouldn’t it be “How Imran Khan will fulfill his promises?” because he has already made them….

The idea is that the big corruption happens when Ministers make illegitimate appointments intentionally. Supposedly financially cleaner Ministers with no patronage from Mr. Prime Minister (Imran Khan) will create a non conducive environment for corruption right from the beginning.

Off course this will remain an expression of intent only until he can come to power. Until then all of PTI’s claims are bound to sound rhetorical. Being a wildcard it will be judged on what challenges the party takes up before elections and how well it fares in them. One commendable challenge PTI has already taken on is the party election. Let’s hope the results of that can dispel some of your fears.

Imran said, and it was first time said in Karachi Jalsa…he quoted “The BIG corruption will be eliminated in 90 days”. Did you get what he said? The BIG corruption, not just all corruption.

IK promises to end corruption in 90 days, illiteracy in 120 days, hunger in 150 days, poverty in 180 days. My vote is for this great visionary.

He forgot to mention that after achieving these two he will go on to win the world in 120 days!
He definitely thinks that people are herd animals who cannot differentiate between an illusion and reality.

IK has repeatedly explained how he intends to finish “big” corruption in 90 days. He has even cited historical examples from Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore etc.

    Simple:
50% of corruption he will eliminate by putting not-zardaari like people.
remaining 50% corruption he will eliminate by taxation – he already collected millions of dollars from the people for ONLY 2 institutions. If he become PM he will give a call to save 100s institutions. Now people will give double taxation (tax + charity). Its simple, we have examples in the present world. Singapore, China and Malaysia did this even though they don’t have Imran Khan. In my opinion IK is the only guy IN THE PRESENT WORLD who communicated million of people in the ground, in the media and public gatherings. He is the unique example in this democratic world.

Mere Mola mujhay sahib-e-juno’n ker “

I fail to understand something, that does this media want some ingenious complex policy whose statistical chance of success will be tangential to varing externalities?
Or perhaps just try for the basics, as in, ending corruption. It is the system which is the root cause of the problem. Thus if IK can remove people, who are corrupt from office, this alone is the correct policy. Think about it:
    1. Public funds will actually be spent on public
    2. There will be no erroneous decision because they will not be based on bribes
    3. There will be a united front, with the government working in one direction, thus more effective, less waste of limited resources
    4. Tax collections will improve, allowing for better investment thus more wealth creation
    The list goes on…….
Sometimes the basics are required, basics such as just removing the wrong people, replacing them with right people. The results will automatically follow!
