Samsung is taking Windows Phone seriously. The recent release of Samsung Focus 2 is a clear evidence of the statement. The phone was released in the US this week by AT&T with a new two-year contract for a meagre price of $50.

For this amount of money the user gets a single-core processor, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango with Tango updates and a 5-mega pixel camera. Considering the price and the features, the phone is a good bargain for the money paid.

Though it is not the slimmest but being in the price bracket just mentioned above, the phone is not hefty or thick at the least. The screen is a Samsung signature equipped with Super-AMOLED display. The camera takes 720p video and the colour quality and resolution are better the most of the phone in that price range, rather it offers a sharp and detailed result especially in outdoor shoots.

The Focus 2 comes with a premium build quality and a design that is inspired by Samsung Focus Flash. However, inspired by the current trend, it is offered in the flagship pure white colour with silver trimming at the back.

The build quality is good and surface is kept smooth with a glossy touch, which some might consider to have been overdone. The glossy touch on the body however, makes it slippery and prone to fall from hands and lap. On the bright side, it is easy to slip in into the pocket and hand/shoulder bags.

The front side sports a 4-inch WVGA Super-AMOLED screen with resolution clocked at 800×480-pixel, which is pretty standard for a screen this size. The display is smaller than the other two major Windows Phone devices in the market; Titan II and Nokia Lumia 900.

The screen offers vibrant and sharp colours but they are oversaturated in the pictures taken. It gives a candy-eye touch when compared to the same pictures taken from the likes of Titan II or Lumia 900.
