Kia Sorento EX (2012): Full Review – Part 2

The Sorento is even more comfortable to drive on slopes. Many SUVs with trim-level engines are hard to manage in upward streams but Sorento surprisingly is easy to manage on such terrains.

The company has installed a six-speed automatic gearbox that also has a manual transmission option, suitable for uneven terrains where unsuspected road inclines and declines require non-computerized gear transmission.

The outer body is quite typically the Kia standard. With a typical Kia grille and appropriate head lamps housed at either side of front-end, are more like the Kia aesthetics. Though the shape is not identical to Kia Sportage, it gives you déjà vu feeling sometimes, which is not bad at all. The overall built quality of the SUV is pretty standard for any Korean brand. However, this new model does feel like a premium product.

The innards will be of especial interest to experts. Although Kia does not offer any thing extraordinaire but it does have a lot inside for a minimal price under $30K. The dashboard is adorned by a hydraulic-powered steering wheel that remains under control with ease in corners and even in high speeds on highways.

There are basic controls to stereo system and others on the steering wheel besides the on-site buttons. Other than air ducts and Air/Con controls on the dashboard, there is stereo onboard as well.

The Korean company has provided a good system with ten speakers, not very often seen in trim version. There are radio, CD player, auxiliary connection, USB port and Bluetooth connectivity included in the basic package that come pre-installed in the vehicle. However, not surprisingly the navigation system is absent and even if it is purchased, Kia keeps it deprive of UVO voice command system.
