Apple releases new MacBook Pro (2012) at WWDC 2012 – Part 2

There are other features in the new laptop that are at par with the likes of Alienware and Razer but the overall structure brings the new device in the leading position all at once. Though a couple of gaming laptops in the market are under an inch thick, none of them has a depth less than or the same as MacBook Pro at 0.71 inches.

That being said, the new device is not just about a new shape. It has the top quality performance package in the slim body that makes it the better choice than a Razer Blade, apart from touch-sensitive button gismos found in the Blade.

The new MacBook has Intel’s third-generation Ivy Bridge Core i7 CPU in two stock denominations, 2.3 and 2.6 GHz. The base model has the processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. Supporting the processor is a DDR3 RAM amassing 8 GB of memory. However, it is upgradable to 16 GB for $200.

The feature that makes all the difference is the NVIDIA graphics card. This is the first time that a laptop this slim has embraced an NVIDIA dedicated graphics chip. Though Apple was all praises for the in-built graphics card with Intel processor, HD4000, which is good for basic to some mid-level gaming, the new NVIDIA card makes all the difference in the new MacBook Pro, even compared to the previous iterations in the same family. Apple nestles a Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1 GB GPU in both denominations of laptop.

The biggest bang that the new MacBook Pro makes is with the Retina Display. The mesmerizing feature is one of the reasons why Apple had to install NVIDIA GPU in the device. The 15.4-inch screen boasts 2,880×1800 pixels that is the densest display in the world. The highest resolution recorded to date maxes out at 1920×1080, a full HD display found in high-end laptops and HDTVs.

The new laptop is better than the rest of the bunch out there, there is no doubt in it, however, the only thing that will make it a hard sell is the price that starts at $2199. The only other denomination available is for $2799.
