Heat the edges of the front panel so that the adhesiveness wears off. It becomes easier to detach the screen without damaging the innards.

Keep heating the area until it easily comes apart. If it does not separate from the device, do not do as forcefully, it may damage the internal components. Moreover, do not insert the tools too far inside as the digitizer cable is less than half an inch away from the edge of the screen and it may also damage the LCD.

Once the edge is detached, separate the whole screen from the LCD slowly while heating the spine

Work your way around the home button and camera bracket very carefully; they are attached to the metal casing very close to edge of the screen. Also WiFi antenna is near the top left corner, so be careful in separating the glass.

When the whole screen is cut loose from main device, careful turn it up from the right side to the left and unfold it without separating the left edge from the left spine of the iPad, the digitizer is located on that side.

The digitizer cable actually goes under the LCD; therefore, it needs to come off.

To do that, remove the screws on the LCD with the Phillips-head screw driver and open the LCD following the same unfolding SOP as the front panel.

Disconnect the LCD connector and place it somewhere safe and clean.

Now disconnect the front panel by unlocking the digitizer cable. There are two small locks fixing the cable to the port inside. Flip them up carefully and remove the cable. The cable has to be gently peeled away from main board’s metal shield.
