China assures complete support to Pakistan

China, the all-time friend of Pakistan, has assured its complete assistance to Pakistan on regional and international issues during a meeting between Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao in Tianjin, China.

Pakistani Premier Raja Pervez Ashraf is currently visiting China to attend the annual meeting  of World Economic Forum (WEF).

Reaffirming their resolve to further strengthening relations in trade and defense, the leaders of the two states discussed a vast range of issues including cooperation in defense‚ infrastructure development‚ bank, energy and agriculture.

According to an official press release, the two leaders said that both Pakistan and China share similar views on important regional and global issues and would continue to extend support to each other at all levels.

“The two sides were of view that they are opposed to terrorism and continue to cooperate with each other to eliminate this threat. They also agreed on exploiting full potential of the two business communities to boost their economy and trade. They renewed their focus on achieving target of fifteen billion dollars bilateral trade”, it added.

PM Ashraf said Pakistan attaches great importance to enhancing economic and trade ties with China, seeking investment by Chinese companies in various areas of the country.

He also urged the need for making efforts to realize full potential of bilateral trade.

Terming the Chinese assistance in carrying out mega projects in Pakistan as significant, the Pakistani premier said that it was high time to address the global economic crisis and find ways to counter its impact on growing economies.

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao at the occasion said his country considers Pakistan its friend, stressing the significance of time tested strategic partnership between the two bordering states

Reiterating the stance of his government of supporting the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan, the Chinese premier applauded Pakistan’s role against terrorism and extremism.

He called for greater international recognition of its efforts and sacrifices in the war on terror.

Later, the leaders of the two countries agreed to continue closer cooperation in combating terrorism.
