In order to convey sentiments of the people of Pakistan to the international community over dastardly act of production of blasphemous movie, the government has decided to observe September 21 as Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH) day.

The government announced public holiday on Friday to express reverence for Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and register the government’s protest against the recently released anti-Islam film in the United States.

Furthermore, the cabinet passed a resolution condemning in strongest terms the sacrilegious act of production of film that has injured sentiments of the Muslim World.

At the same time, the meeting requested President Asif Ali Zardari to take up the issue in a forceful manner when he visits New York next week to attend the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Session.

The meeting also demanded convening of a special session of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) to demonstrate to the world the true feelings of the world.

Earlier, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf while suspending all agenda items on the list for today’s meeting discussed ways and means to express Pakistan’s strong resentment against the anti-Islam movie.

He called upon the people to register their protest peacefully and restrain from damaging public property.

It is vital to mention here that the controversial film has sparked protests all across the world by Muslims, protesting against the portrayal of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the movie.

The government has recently blocked YouTube in the country after Google refused to remove the film’s trailer from the website.

Along with Pakistan, other Muslim countries, including Afghanistan and Bangladesh have also blocked the website. In India, YouTube complied with government’s order and blocked the content.

Google said it was censoring the video in India and Indonesia after blocking it on Wednesday in Egypt and Libya.

Moreover, there have been furious protests outside US embassies and other American symbols in at least 20 countries, and the American ambassador to Libya and three other US diplomats in the North African country have been among those killed.
