HTC profit falls by 91 percent

The net profit of the Taiwanese company HTC fell by 91% in the fourth quarter compared with the same period last year, due to competition from Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy range.

The manufacturer has suffered a sharp drop in its value since the second half of 2011, after a fairytale career when he built a strong global brand with phones based on Google’s Android software. Even unaudited
net profit in October-December was 34.48 million dollars.

Analysts said they expect that 2013 will be the year when HTC will give a positive response with more friendly products and improving their brand image which is far behind Apple and Samsung.

The Taiwanese brand expects to launch a flagship model codenamed "M7", earlier this year, according to several analysts citing company sources. The model could be delayed until after March, instead of February
as scheduled.
