Social networking applications for Android operating system: One step forward – Part 1

Social networking is one of the best and foremost features in mobile computing, since it takes a huge part in running the user’s life. Be it Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or any other website that lets the users to interact with each other, the mobile devices
let them to do it on the go, making the most out of it.

Android operating system is one of the most used on mobile devices, in fact one of the two, besides Apple’s iOS, that is used on tablets and smartphones. However, there have been made several attempt in making the social networking applications as interactive
as the desktop ones. However, due to limited hardware proficiency and software allowance, these applications—mostly by third party developers—have limited functionalities on them.

However, the recent Android release by Google called Ice Cream Sandwich has extended the boundaries to interact with friends more freely than the predecessors. But it should be noted that these applications are still not the equivalent of the desktop software,
but they are an upgrade nonetheless.

The recent advancements in hardware technology has allowed the operating systems to become more adaptive to the desktop-like interfaces. The dual-core chips in smartphones have revolutionized the mobile computing. The tablets are not adapting to a more advanced
semi-conductor, quad-core, while the same processor is right around the corner of smartphones.
