The new iPad Dilemma: It loves me … it loves me not – Part 2

However, the most important thing that would keep the users having second thoughts is the features list. The new iPad has 4G, Retina Display, iCloud PhotoStream, AirPlay mirroring, WiFi hotspot functionality on LTE, and that’s about it.

Those who are using iPad 2 might get most of this by upgrading the iOS on their devices to iOS 5, there will be not or little difference at best in term of features. The reason being, the most important feature of iOS 5, virtual assistant Siri is not available on both of them.

Then there is network, which is the only feature that makes the difference. The new iPad is the first device from Apple that has LTE connectivity capabilities. The data transfer speeds are now on a faster track on the tablet. The best thing about the new iPad is that the users will not be bound by any two-year contracts from both AT&T and Verizon. Moreover, the device sports a micro-SIM card slot to facilitate the users with international roaming with no worries of internet connectivity in those regions.

The WiFi hot spot is however, a trickier part of the equation. As of yet, only Verizon offers the hotspot capabilities, whereas AT&T says it is planning to join the club. With this feature turned on, the user can connect up to five other devices with the new iPad via WiFi, while the iPad is connected to 4G network.

All these features are certainly the most attractive, especially when it comes to iOS devices. These are the icing on an already well-baked cake. But since the iPad 2 offers most these features albeit 4G and Retina Display, the users get confused whether to buy one or not.
