Imran Khan, the Pakistan’s new political sensation and chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has said that talks with the Taliban is only solution to end war on terror, saying he would holds negotiations with them if he is given mandate to do so.

While interviewing to Gulf News, the cricket-turned politician observed, “I can talk to them if the government and parties concerned sanction this and ask me to get involved. I am ready to talk to them in the best interest of the country because this war is burying Pakistan”.

In his view there was no harm in Taliban’s move to open an office in Qatar as it was the first positive omen towards peace process.

Khan reiterated, “I told the world some eight years ago that there was no military solution to this problem as the only way out is to hold talks and settle it politically but at that time they called me Taliban Khan but now they all agree with me as they could not win this so-called war on terrorism”.

He maintained that it was imperative for Pakistan to get out of the US war on terrorism because it had already suffered losses worth $50 billion during the last one decade.  He opined that the sooner we get out of this war, the quicker we will get back on our feet.

The captain was of the opinion that he could find a solution by talking to the Taliban because he knows the people the areas. He strongly condemned the tabling of a bill earlier this month in the US Congress, which called upon Pakistan to recognize the right to self-determination for Balochistan.

He clarified, “The US has no right to talk about this issue as it is sheer interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and I strongly condemn it”.

The PTI’s chief is also holding talks with Baloch leaders including the nationalists and those who are demanding a separate Balochistan.

Khan offered, “We have understood each other and I will give a package to resolve the Balochistan issue in my public rally scheduled to be held in Quetta, Balochistan, on April 10”.

Khan has abruptly emerged as a third political force in the country and has become a household name after his two mammoth rallies in Lahore and Karachi. In his view, they have slowed because the party was working to form a new constitution.
