Three years ago, Jim Clark belonged to the family of the US billionaires. Then he fell victim to the financial crisis that started at the Wall Street in the fall of 2008. However, the 67-year-old California-native has made a comeback to the elite of the country in the latest survey, just toppling the $1 Billion benchmark, thanks to the successful bets he made on technology companies like Apple, Inc.

“I’ve eked my way up after losing quite a bit of money in 2008,” Clark said from his Florida office.

The Cupertino-based technology giant recent broke the financial Mach barrier of $500 Billion stock market valuation. Furthermore, the company is being touted to reach $1 Trillion milestone in the next couple of years, three years tops, and Mr. Clark vouches for it.

The founder of the Netscape Technologies, along with a slew of other then-successful Silicon enterprises, made his way upwards to $1.4 Billion in the start of 2008. However, the crisis devoured many successful businessmen and Clark was no exception.

The 45-year veteran never yielded his ground and remained in the technology business. His main focus, in terms of investment, was on the unbeaten and unstoppable Apple, Inc. He recently purchased $20 million worth of common stock in the iPhone makers.

He started investing in Apple in 2009, when the share price of the common stock was at $100. The stock recently bumped up to $530.69, raising Clark’s net worth to exactly $1 Billion.

The fact that lured Clark to Apple was the acquisition of NeXt by the company in 1997. Though it was a little too late to see the change, the very presence of Steve Jobs at Cupertino office was promising enough for the inventor of Netscape web browser.
