Moreover, the 2011 model is lighter and skinnier than the 2012 release which makes it a better choice for those who are pickier about the weight and size and do not have much to do on go other than reading books and watching movies.

One of the main reasons why the new iPad is not the first choice of the new users is the screen quality. Though the new slate has twice the pixel size and four times the pixel density of the iPad 2 with 3.1 million pixels in the same 9.7-inch screen, the picture quality is not even twice better then the iPad 2.

As far as the text and icons are concerned, the new model undoubtedly packs a punch with seamless textual display and uniform colours with pixel distortion. However, the new iPad does not offer the same quality in videos. Repeated tests have shown that the frame per second rate is almost the same as iPad 2 and the picture has same saturation problem as in the 2011 model, although the new iPad comes with a 5-mega pixel camera capable of capturing 1080p video.

The port has the same multi-functional nature with a lot of adaptors to work with, which ranges from USB to HDMI to VGA to SD card reader. However, the good thing is that it can read SD cards.

Another drawback in the new iPad is the limited storage capacity. With the Retina Display, the apps are expected to become heftier, which are going to require more space. With a revamped display the company has axed on its own feet by limiting the storage capacity.
