HTC One S: Full Review of the midrange smartphone from the Taiwanese company – Part 4

The phone possesses a dedicated image processor to take shots quickly and neatly. It is extremely fast on autofocus that locks on the scene in a fraction of a second. The shooting frequency is nearly instantaneous in shot-to-shot speeds. In addition to panorama, face detection, and macro, the One S has a continuous capture mode that snaps shots in extremely fast and instantaneous bursts.

Additionally, the phone is also equipped with Beats Audio, a feature that can be found on a number of HTC smartphones. The audio enhancement application is gathering fame of late, both mobile and personal computing devices. The app in HTC One S boosts bass to complement low-end heavy music styles such as rap, dance, and electronic.

Moreover, is automatically syncs the settings with Beats-branded headphones and equalize the EQ settings to match the particular model. However, the standard of the audio is not up to the mark, according to some experts.

Data Speeds

Though One S is marketed as a 4G handset, it actually works on HSPA+ wireless technology that is merely an upgrade to the 3G HSPA technology. However, for HSPA+ the data speeds were impressive. At times, the phone clocked the speeds at 3+ Mbps (download) and 2+ Mbps (upload).

The call quality can be called better than some available in the market. Though the voice quality ranged from good to better on One S’ side, the receiver could easily say the caller was calling from a cell phone.

All in all, the phone is masterpiece considering the cost one has to pay to acquire it. For $199, One S captures a lot of attention with a fast processor and HSPA+ capabilities. Moreover, HD video recording and Beats Audio are complimentary features that are going to lure customers to HTC stores.
