PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif reiterated his stance about Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, saying they do not accept him as premier and would not allow the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as per the wishes of the government.

While an interview, the PML-N chief said the incumbent could not bear the opposition’s demand regarding prime minister’s resignation.

Commenting on the appointment of CEC, Nawaz Sharif said that his party would present its stance in front of the parliamentary panel. The government has problem with his visits to Sindh which is why he was being criticized by the PPP leaders, he added.

In his view, the appointment of an impartial CEC is a prerequisite for free and fair elections, adding that all political parties should show concern on the matter.

He clarified that he had not been returned to the country after offering apology to Pervez Musharraf but indeed the former president desired to hold meeting with him in Saudi Arabia.

The PML-N chief asserted, “Declaring two days off in a week is not the solution to it. The government should tell what concrete measures it has taken to deal with this national problem”.

He rejected money-laundering cases against him, saying it was nothing but vindictive moves of the failed rulers.

Lamenting that the incumbent did not pay heed to parliamentary recommendations and threw them into the dustbin, he Washington was ready to offer an apology over the Salala attack in February but the government asked it to do that at an appropriate time.

In his view, the rulers were happy to attend the Chicago summit but resumption of NATO supplies would be a matter of great disgrace for the entire nation.

He noted, “I am amazed as well as ashamed at the statements made by the prime minister. He does not know how to talk over a wide range of issues”.

The two-time former prime minister clarified that he had no personal grudge against the premier but they would force the government for the rule of law and implementation of the Supreme Court’s rulings.

Declaring all options including a long march would be utilized against the government, he said the situation was heading towards the politics 90s.
