White believes that the new iTV or any other variant will be a revamp of the Apple TV, which is a online media streaming set-top box.  The CEO spoke to a web blogging company this week. In the interview, White stated his speculation on the new Apple television.

“Typically with technology, it smashes the cost structure in some new way (but) with content costs, rights fees and the cost of spectrum it’s hard to see (it) obsoleting our technology,” he told the source.

It is anticipated that DirecTV will fall a direct victim to the new television from Apple. However, there are strong reasons differ on this particular point. It has been more than two years since Apple TV came out the factory door. During this time, DTV has not seen any substantial change in the demand for DirecTV services.

However, that does not oust the major factor from the equation, web content competition. No one could ever imagine that Apple will introduce such a device that will compel online media sources and major television networks to launch applications for iOS other than web browser-based streaming.

No matter what DirecTV thinks of the new Apple television or the current device in that category, the fact remains that the Cupertino-based company took everyone completely off-guard. Now, for a full-fledge television, there a many possible features in front of Apple.

The new television can include the Apple TV structure in the television for starters. Moreover, Apple’s own voice command assistant called Siri could also decorate the canvas. Microsoft launched Kinect last year that interprets users’ gestures to control games and navigate through menus and settings. This technology might come handy for Apple in making a new television, eliminating the need of remote control all together.
