The best unlocked smartphones available in every market – Part 1

The US and UK mobile communications markets play a different music than almost the rest of the world. Most of the premium smartphones are offered by cellular carriers with contracts. This brings the prices exponentially low.

However, these phones and most of the others are available at full, non-subsidized prices in the rest of the world. The likes of LG, Huawei and Samsung offer their handsets mostly unlocked to the US as for other markets.

In a Pakistani market, there are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to unlocked phones, including iPhones and SIIIs. However, there are less expensive phones, mostly Android-based that are cheaper and pack a punch in processing speeds; some are even LTE-enabled.

The following post includes phones from Android to Windows Phone, ranging from Samsung to LG to Sony.

Nokia Lumia 800

Nokia was late into the smartphone market but it surely came with a bang. Though it was touted to be doomed a failure soon after the launch of its Lumia series, the Finnish company rallied past many competitors with sheer elegance and valour.

The Lumia 800 was the company’s firs premium handset equipped with Windows Phone, and it is a looker. The slick and stylish design and the ClearBlack technology are all that make it the best bargain in unlocked phones all over the world.

Within the first two weeks, the phone was short in inventory and the wait time ranged from couple of weeks to a couple of months. Its most demand lies in the European market, where despite the Euro crisis people go for the premium handset.

It has Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and single-core Snapdragon CPU but it runs fast. Moreover, Microsoft’s Marketplace has amassed nearly 100,000 application from the day of Lumia’s launch to the end of May, which is an achievement in its own right.
