Amazon says the opt-out option on advertisements will be offered with Kindle Fire release

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012 4:30:27 by announced on Sunday that it will offer its customers to opt out of receiving special offers advertisements on their new Kindle Fire HD tablets of $15 extra.

The company said in the statement reported by Reuters that it will make the opt-out offer upon the commencement of sales in September of its 7-inch Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD, and further in November when the 8.9-inch versions hit the market.

The advertisement feature in the tablets is not news to Kindle users. It was incorporated in the last iteration as well. However, the news on opt-out offer came late for the new devices. After the word on street got stronger that the opt-out option will not be offered this time around, the company attracted opprobrium online. In the light of latest happenings the company made the following statement to lift off the fog.

“With Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD, there will be a special offers opt-out option for $15. We know from our Kindle reader line that customers love our special offers and very few people choose to opt out. We’re happy to offer customers the choice,” said Amazon spokeswoman Kinley Pearsall in an email response to questions about the ad policy switch.

The company announced the new line of Kindle Fire tablets in Santa Monica last week. The new device have received number of new additions and enhancements including denser screen resolutions, new hardware shape factor, premium audio quality and faster processors.

However, the Dolby Digital Plus feature in the new HD versions is one that has attracted the most press. Even with small side speakers that can be found on any other tablet, the new Kindle Fires reproduce great quality sound.

Last year’s Kindle Fire is still in production and its price has been lowered down to $159 from $199, the price tag of the new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD.
