Apple released the iOS 6 in July concurrently with the release of new MacBook Pro with Retina Display and Mac OS X Mountain Lion. However, the mobile operating system did not have worth companion back then. Now that the new iPhone 5 has been unleashed by Apple, experts are incising the new OS as well.

Aside from the new and update hardware features, the new iPhone has one thing that keeps and will keep everyone going the Apple retail shops way, the all-new iOS 6. Though there are more than 200 new features in the new operating system, some of them are new and a number of them are just upgrades or additions to the previous ones.

The most prominent amongst them are new Apple Maps, enhancements to Siri, PassBook and Facebook integration down to the very basic iPhone functions.

The hardware, the new form factor with bigger screen are some of the attractive features that simple sway the customer right off the bat. However, probing deeper into the handset reveals the new OS is matching companion to the very first big iPhone.

First of all, the new OS takes full advantage of the bigger screen. The home screen now has five horizontal rows of app icons in addition to the dock at the bottom. The apps are quickly getting accustomed to the new 4-inch display while the non-compatible ones are displayed with black bars (letterboxes) on the top and bottom. The same goes in sideways iteration, where they become pillarboxes. There is no change in the width of the screen so, no much to say on that.

The new phone has the same Retina Display, just for pixels short on iPhone 4S ppi density. Therefore, app developers do not have to worry about the pixel density.

The new A6 chip brings a more aggressive GPU, so apps are likely to become more graphics-intensive.
