Malala Yousufzai is out of immediate danger: Doctors

As the nation waited with bated breath through most of time, the doctors treating Malala Yousufzai on Thursday said that her condition is gradually improving after three-and-a-half-hour surgery.

According to the latest reports, the young-peace-activist starts moving her body parts and her health is improving gradually. A panel of senior doctors has examined Malala Yousufzai‚ who has been kept under strict observation at CMH (Combined Military Hospital).

Following another detailed medical-checkup on Friday, the doctors will take decision whether to her abroad or not for treatment.

The doctors further said that she was successfully operated and the bulleted was extracted from her body.

Malala Yousufzai, the 14-year-old peace-activist and campaigner for girls’ education, was shot and wounded by the Taliban in Mingora on Tuesday.

An official while speaking to the media said that arrangements had been made to send Malala for treatment abroad, but the doctors suggested she should not be moved at the moment.

He noted, “That’s the situation at the moment. She is under observation and unless the doctors suggest otherwise, she will not be moved,” he said.

Quoting doctors he said that they would have to wait for a couple of days to see how she progressed before making up their mind what to do next. “She stands a 50/50 chance.

The official added the bullet had caused some damage to the brain and that the doctors would know what to do when they removed the ventilator and evaluate her condition after two days.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who paid a visit to CMH on Wednesday, said that Malala’s condition was out of danger and that a decision to send her abroad for treatment has been postponed.

“She is gradually recovering and t doctors have put her under observation for 48 hours”, he added.

He said that security personnel would be assigned to ensure Malala’s safety. In addition, passports for her and her family have been prepared ‘in case of an emergency’.
