Apple sends invites to developers for a March 7 event; new iPad may be ready to enter the ring – Part 2

As far as Retina Display is concerned—Apple’s signature high-resolution display technology, it never vouches for the release of an entirely new device. It has been in use for more than a year now and is not a new and ‘breath taking’ technology in Apple’s books. Even if Apple does not release a new device in the second half of 2012, the March is, in my opinion, is an S version.

There are rumours from some valid sources that the new iPad line will incorporate three main versions of the device; WiFi Only, 3G and 4G, codenamed J1, J2 and J3, respectively. However, I would not bet my money on the 4G version.

According to this latest advancement in the rumours, the new iPad portfolio will contain nine options for the users to choose as the current line is available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB, hence nine options. Furthermore, there is word on the street that the new iPad might also adopt a new sibling with 128 GB storage capacity, increasing the number of options to 12.

Scratching the 4G version and you are left with 8 options. There has been a lot of pressure on Apple to incorporate LTE tech into their devices but so was it last year and look what we got, iPhone 4S, and I don’t seem to find any 4G capabilities in it. Maybe it’s just me.

If Apple, and only if they find even a single iota of evidence to justify 4G, include LTE in the new iPad, the price of the device with 4G plus Retina Display plus 128 GB storage is going skyrocket. The device is already in the expensive neighbourhood and the market has already dropped the gauntlet on the very front with the 2011 releases of dramatically inexpensive Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet.

Further news will pour in upon the release of the device on March 7, if the experts are lucky and Apple has mercy on their souls.
