Should you buy the iPad 2 at this moment or not?

If you are thinking to buy a new tablet and the one thing stuck in your mind is Apple then what my advice to you will be to have patience. The new iPad 2, the latest edition of the Apple tablet to date, is available for $499, 16 GB and refurbished is $50 cheaper, give or take some.

However, this new iPad is going to become an old one as the alleged launch of iPad 3 is just around the corner. March has always been the release of the iPads and it is speculated is that 2012 will not be an exception in that case.

With the new release of Apple products, the value of the older ones—even the last year editions—become undervalued exponentially. Therefore, iPad 2 is going to get a huge price cut upon the release of the iPad 3.

In addition to the depreciation in the value of the older product, Apple is also considering to cater to the new market segment created by Amazon, the cheap $200 tablets. Due to the price factor, users who need a portable book reader and a web browser are keen to own a Kindle Fire or Barnes and Noble’s Nook Color.

The iPad 2 is expected to get a drop in the price around $200 to $250 to reach to the users who want a cheap but powerful tablet. However, making this announcement has my doubts with it. On the other hand, Apple has been done the same with iPhones therefore, iPads are destined to the same fate, in a wild guess.

The new iPad, on the other hand is expected to get upgrades that will make the older version look really old. The front facing camera is speculated to be HD for FaceTime HD. The rear camera is also expected to capture 1080p HD video as the iPhone 4S.

Another speculation is Siri, that adorned iPhone 4S last year and has made big headlines for the advanced voice recognition system.

However, Apple being Apple, is always to company that surprises everyone. These speculations will remains speculations until the day of iPad 3’s launch. May be company even surprises with the name like iPad 2S.
