PTI’s Imran Khan strongly condemns over unanimous resolution of parliament

Terming it another instance of corrupt politics, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan strongly condemned the unanimous resolution passed by the joint-sitting of parliament to redefine the national foreign policy.

He raised a question asking, “What benefit will this resolution be to the people of Pakistan who have seen over 40,000 of their fellow citizens dead in this US-led ‘war on terror’ as well as faced the loss of $50b in the last four years and seen FDI dry up?”

While making a demand to know what had happened to the principle of give peace a chance, which was key point of the All-Parties Conference (APC).

Reiterating that this new resolution was simply an extension of making the country play a materialistic role for Americans and only the price for this had been jacked up.

He, however, added that the money that would come would go into the hands of a few and would be of no benefit to Pakistan. The PTI chief, indeed, pointed out that it would cause more harm with an increase in terrorism again, more militancy, greater polarization within the country and more economic destabilization.

Khan commented, “The farce of reviving the NATO supply route for non-lethal goods will sustain the US war in Afghanistan as all NATO supplies are for their military’s sustenance and war effort against Afghanistan”.

He claimed that his party would not accept any restoration of NATO supply-line through the country as any supply going to allied forces keeps the war prolonged as it supports the war effort.

In his view, it was not an issue of money but extricating the country from this war which is not our war at all and which has provoked militancy in the region.

The cricket-turned politician stated that it was pitiable to see Maulana Fazlur Rehman playing his usual game of simply upping his purchase price by declaring that his party would never allow any NATO supply route to be opened and then whimpering out and accepting the PCNS draft resolution.

Putting the PML-N in the same fairy, he said it was ironical that all these uncertain compromises are made in the name of “national interest” when in fact they actually undermine the same.
