Amazon.com’s Kindle Fire out on November 15 in the US and the UK

Amazon.com, Inc. got the rabbit out of the hat in September giving the tablet market a massive spin off. The first coloured e-reader, Kindle Fire will hit the US and UK markets on November 15.

The Fire might have been labelled the e-reader by some in the technology circles but there is more to it than meets the eye. The new instalment to Kindle family has more features than any other e-reader and can fairly be called a genuinely smart hybrid of
a reader and a tablet with a price that has been a news since its launch in September. The device will be available from mid-November for a mere $199.

The colourful slate is a fully touch-sensitive device and has a host of applications that gives it a competitive edge in the tab market. The massively tweaked Android OS inside runs smoothly on the dual-core processor. The screen resolution 1024 x 600 might
be low for its counterparts in the market but it undoubtedly is a good bargain for pocket money of 199 dollars.

The Amazon customized application with a load of e-books, movies and songs at the disposal of a single tap keeps the tab on the top shelf.

However, there are some features that one has to compromise in order to get this economical device.

Where the Fire is up for grabs for just 199 dollars, it lacks Bluetooth, GPS, position indicator and cameras. However, for such an affordable price, these features mean little.

The Amazon’s own app to browse the contents on amazon.com and imdb.com is aptly developed but the browser has been modified impressively. The tablet can be connected to the internet through WiFi and can load full-featured web contents.

On the downside, the minimal storage of 8 GB could have been enhanced and an expansion slot wouldn’t have killed its outlook. The screen brightness could’ve been improved, which gives a dull look to the device as compared to its competitors like iPad 2 and
Blackberry Playbook.

In a nutshell, the device is a good decision if someone does not want to shell out a massive $500 on an expensive device like Apple’s or a massive piece of junk like the Barnes and Noble’s Nook and HP’s Touchpad.
