HTC Titan II (2012): First Review – Part 1

HTC pulled the curtains on the succession of the Titan line of smartphones at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012, the new HTC Titan II. This week the company released the Windows Phone-based smartphone. In a nutshell, the phone is a whopper with a larger footprint and a stunning 16-mega pixel camera.

Though the Titan II is not the first Windows phone, it however, holds a lot of hope for both HTC and Microsoft to make a comeback in the smartphone industry, and should the stunt pan out it might resuscitate their presence. Microsoft is one of the pioneers of the smartphone concept and though it captured a huge market share in the late 90s and early 2000s, it could not keep up with the latest iPhones and Android-based handsets.

HTC Titan, with a 4.7-inch screen and an attractive camera, lives up to the moniker and the pedigree of the Titan line. However, the large structure is not always the best choice for those who have small hands to deal with it. The screen may be good for video watching and still photography but the daily use especially in a single hand becomes quite a bit of a hassle for those who are used to iPhones and other small screen handsets.

Another main thing that makes it an ideal American phone is its capability to connect to 4G LTE. Though carriers have not been decided yet, but it is obvious that it will be sold by AT&T or Verizon or both.

As for the dimensions of the handset, the phone is not much of change from its predecessor, Titan, which was a 3G phone and the first one to come with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Despite the size, the Titan soon became experts’ choice in smartphones and especially on Windows Phone platform.
