PTI will clean sweep in general elections: Imran Khan
Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 7:44:56 by Faisal FarooqImran Khan, the cricket-legend, said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will sweep the upcoming general elections in the country.
While speaking to CNN, he said, “Youths in a huge number are supporting the PTI and once the electoral process sets in, people will see the party succeeding, as they want change and his party is this change, adding the same will be visible in the elections.”
He was of the opinion that use of force affords no solution to any issue, as hearts and minds of the people will have to be won over for an end to terrorism, he asserted.
Replying to a query he noted, “Coalition means that you will have to compromise with the status quo. We are the anti-status quo party. We cannot bring change by compromising with one of the parties which is part of the status quo in power. So we will fight alone.”
Commenting on drones, Imran Khan said the unmanned US attacks were counterproductive, adding that one doesn’t kill its way to peace
He further stated that there was an unending chain of violence going on and it would strength the Pakistani military and allows them to fight terrorism on their own terms if he could change this perception.
He was of the opinion that the tribal people would take back control over their land from the Taliban. He optimistically said it would take just a matter of months. He accepted that he was called pro-Taliban because he was anti-war.
Khan said that he wants whoever can stop the war on terror to win the US presidential elections in November.
He noted, “I want an anti-war president. I’ve prayed for Obama because I wanted Obama to stop this insanity called the war on terror.”
He insisted that one couldn’t fight it with bombs and planes. Terrorism is ones winning hearts and minds of people and he wants to have a president in the US who tries to win the hearts and minds of the Muslim world.
