Nokia Lumia 900: Full Review (2012) – Part 5

Compared to the snappers in iPhone 4S and Focus S, the picture quality is far better in terms of brightness and colour depth. The Super AMOLED display augments that in a nicer way.

I was generally happy with video, which shoots at a rate of 30 frames per second, though I wish it shot in 1080p HD resolution rather than in 720p. The picture was clear, audio was strong, and playback was smooth. There were some weird moments when the camcorder darkened a scene, but if I shot with the right lighting, my home videos were pretty good.

The call quality has received conflicting reviews from the experts all over. It seems that Lumia 900’s call quality is heavily dependent on the region and the traffic on the network. On the other hand, calls made from Lumia 900 to Lumia 900 were better with less distortion and call drop rate is less at one out of 10, which is acceptable. However, some have reported the voice from the Lumia 900’s side to be a bit louder.

The calls made from 900 to a landline number were far better in quality and did not incur any distortion. The receivers however, have noted that voice on the Lumia side is a little muted. All these connotations are diminutive but noteworthy in a review nonetheless.

The Lumia 900 in the US is sold by AT&T under a two-year contract at a mere $99. This brings three companies who have pre-installed apps in the smartphone, Nokia, Microsoft and AT&T.
